Esther Vivas Esteve
Esther Vivas Esteve (Sabadell, 1975) is a Spanish journalist and sociologist specialized in feminist motherhoods, social movements, and food sovereignty. Her most recognized work is Disobedient Mom: A Feminist Look at Motherhood (2019), an essay that has been published in multiple countries and received the Bronze Medal for Best Book on Motherhood/Parenting at the International Latino Book Awards. Other notable works include The Business of Food: Who Controls Our Nutrition? (2014) and Fearless: Conversation between Teresa Forcades and Esther Vivas (2013).
Vivas is also a professor in postgraduate programs in Spain and Latin America, and collaborates with media such as El Periódico and Público. Her approach combines sociological analysis with personal experiences, addressing issues such as obstetric violence, breastfeeding, and reconciliation from a feminist and ecological perspective. Additionally, she has founded the Feminist Motherhood School and the Disobedient Moms Community, spaces dedicated to reflection and empowerment around motherhood.
