This new volume will convey evolving emphases in Calvin studies with chapters from leading Calvin scholars.

John Calvin Today provides resources for understanding aspects of Calvin's life, thought, and influence which are focused differently than in earlier books. The Four main Parts of this book extend the concerns of earlier studies. This book will open wider areas of contexts: Calvin as a person, and ways Calvin impacted important social, political, and ecclesiastical issues themselves, as well as ways Calvin influenced the specific continents where his ideas spread. The Four Parts of the book provide a wide but focused look at important dimensions for Calvin study. Part I: Calvin's Contexts. Calvin's life and work took shape in relation to a number of elements. This part explores these Part II: "Calvin the Person" in his various roles focus on Calvin as Refugee, Prophet, and Colleague. Part III: "Calvin in the World" reflects Calvin's understandings of political and economic topics as well ways in which his life and work have related to Colonialism, Race, and Wealth and Poverty in Society and to Ecumenism. Part IV: "Receiving Calvin." Here, Calvin in global contexts are explored in several chapters. Chapters on "Calvin Today" and "Calvin Resources" in this Part indicate the overall significance and importance of Calvin's life and work; as well as contemporary resources for Calvin studies.
