Pepo
René Ríos Boettiger, known as Pepo (Concepción, Chile, 1911–2000), was a Chilean cartoonist and caricaturist, widely recognized for creating Condorito in 1949, one of the most popular comic strips in Latin America. His work, marked by folk humor and social critique, positioned him as a central figure in Hispanic American comics of the 20th century. Throughout his career, he collaborated on magazines such as Topaze and El Pingüino, in addition to founding and directing his own humorous publications
His main works include Condorito (1949), a comic strip with continental circulation, and Viborita (1946), a short strip of risqué humor. Both works belong to the graphic humor genre. He received the Santiago Journalists' Circle Award for the best political caricature in 1952.
