Miguel Quintana Pali
Miguel Quintana Pali (1945) was born in Boston, Massachusetts, spent his childhood in Santiago de Chile and his adolescence in Mexico City and Monterrey. A "barefoot" architect and great entrepreneur, in 1972 he started the Pali chain of furniture and decoration boutiques, which came to have branches in Satélite, Perisur, Insurgentes Sur and Periférico in Lomas de Chapultepec. In 1985, he burned his ships in Mexico City to start a career as a park manager in Xcaret, a park that opened five years later. In 1994, he obtained, along with his partners, the Constandse brothers, the concession of the federal park Xel-Há and in three decades has opened five more parks (Xplor, Xplor Fuego, Xoximilco, Xenses and the recently inaugurated Xavage), in addition to tourist excursions, among which Xichén and Xenotes stand out. In 2012, Xcaret won the Ulysses Award from the World Tourism Organization and, in 2018, the Liseberg Applause Award for the best park in the world. Miguel Quintana is one of the most internationally recognized Mexican entrepreneurs for his ingenuity, the development that Grupo Xcaret has brought to the Yucatán Peninsula, his strong social conscience, and for creating the most visited Mexican embassy in the world.
