Martin Handford
Martin Handford is a British illustrator born in London in 1956. From a young age, he showed a great passion for drawing, especially scenes filled with characters and action. He studied at the Maidstone Art School, where he perfected his detailed and meticulous style. After graduating, he began working as a freelance illustrator, creating complex scenes with large crowds, which later became his hallmark.

His international fame arrived in 1987 with the publication of the first book of “Where’s Wally?” (known as “Where’s Waldo?” in some countries). In this book, readers had to find Wally, a character with a red and white striped hat and shirt, hidden among thousands of figures in chaotic and entertaining illustrations. The originality of the concept, combined with the incredible attention to detail, turned the series into a global phenomenon.

Over the years, Handford continued to publish new installments of the series, which were translated into dozens of languages and sold millions of copies. Although he is known almost exclusively for Wally, Handford has maintained a low profile and avoids the limelight. His work continues to be admired for its creativity, humor, and the incredible patience each drawing requires.
