Gustavo González Rodríguez
Gustavo González Rodríguez (Linares, 1946) is a Chilean journalist, academic, and writer with a distinguished career in national and international media. He was the director of the School of Journalism at the University of Chile (2003–2008) and has worked for publications such as Chile Hoy, Análisis, Brecha, and the Inter Press Service (IPS) agency. A specialist in political communication and development, he has addressed issues such as human rights, the environment, and social inequalities. Since retiring in 2012, he remains active as a columnist and speaker.
Among his most significant works are Caso Spiniak: Power, Ethics, and Media Operations (2008), Women's Names (2016), and The Death of the Dancer (2021). In 2024, he co-adapted and translated into Spanish Understanding and Changing Today's World, alongside Roberto Savio and Giuliano Rizzi, an essay that promotes critical thinking in the face of global challenges such as climate change and inequality. His literary production spans genres such as essays, narrative, and journalistic chronicle.
