Alexander Huerta-Mercado
Alexander Huerta-Mercado (Lima, 1968) is a distinguished Peruvian anthropologist, PhD in Anthropology from New York University and holds a bachelor's degree in Anthropology from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP). He is currently a principal professor at the PUCP, where he also directs the Anthropologica journal and the Sherezade visual anthropology group. Additionally, he contributes as a columnist to the newspaper El Comercio

Among his most notable works are El chongo peruano. Antropología del humor nacional (2019), Feliz seré. Chisme, humor y lágrimas en la cultura popular (2022) and Derramaba lisura. Frases célebres de la cultura popular para entender el Perú (2024). These publications address Peruvian popular culture from an anthropological perspective, focusing on themes such as humor, gossip, and popular expressions.
