Ed Brubaker (Bethesda, Maryland, 1966) is an American screenwriter and graphic novelist, known for revitalizing the noir genre comic and for his mature approach to superhero stories. He began his career with the semi-autobiographical series Lowlife and gained notoriety at DC Comics with titles such as Batman, Catwoman, and Gotham Central. At Marvel, his stint on Captain America (2004–2012) is especially famous for introducing the Winter Soldier, redefining the character of Bucky Barnes.

His collaboration with artist Sean Phillips has resulted in notable works such as Criminal (2006–present), Fatale (2012–2014), The Fade Out (2014–2016), and the Reckless series of graphic novels (2020–present). These works, published by Image Comics, have been acclaimed for their intense narrative and noir style. Brubaker has been awarded multiple Eisner and Harvey Awards, including Best Writer and Best New Series for Criminal. Additionally, he has ventured into television as co-writer of the series Too Old to Die Young (2019), directed by Nicolas Winding Refn.

Steve Epting is an outstanding American comic book artist, born on September 30, 1962 in South Carolina. His professional career began in 1989 with First Comics, where he worked on titles such as Nexus, Dreadstar, and the miniseries Hammer of God and Hammer of God: Sword of Justice

In 1991, Epting joined Marvel Comics, where he stood out as the main illustrator on The Avengers during the 1990s. His work on this series allowed him to establish himself as one of the most important artists at the publisher. Later, he worked on other Marvel titles, including X-Factor, Factor X, and X-Men '97

In 1999, Epting moved to DC Comics, where he was the main artist on the Superman and Aquaman series, collaborating with writer Dan Jurgens. His detailed and dynamic style allowed him to bring a new visual perspective to these classic characters

Throughout his career, Epting has worked with various independent publishers, including CrossGen, where he co-created Crux and El Cazador, the latter a pirate saga nominated for the Eisner Award

In 2005, Epting returned to Marvel to collaborate with writer Ed Brubaker on the relaunch of Captain America. Together they created the story in which Captain America is killed and replaced by his former partner Bucky Barnes, a plot that had a significant impact on the Marvel Universe. Later, they worked together on The Marvels Project, a miniseries that explored the origins of Marvel's most iconic heroes

Epting has also worked on the Fantastic Four series with Jonathan Hickman, where he illustrated key stories that redefined the First Family of the Marvel Universe. Additionally, he has collaborated on projects like Velvet for Image Comics and on the relaunch of Batwoman for DC Comics
