Marguerite Duras (1914-1996) was a French writer, screenwriter, and filmmaker, known for her innovative style and exploration of memory, desire, and identity. Her most famous work is The Lover (1984), an autobiographical novel that won the prestigious Goncourt Prize. Other notable works include Hiroshima mon amour (1960), The Ravishing of Lol V.
