Jack Ralph Cole fue un historietista y dibujante estadounidense nacido en New Castle, Pensilvania (1914–1958), reconocido como uno de los grandes innovadores de la “Edad de Oro” del cómic. Auto-formado mediante un curso por correspondencia, comenzó su carrera en revistas y cómics a finales de los años treinta. Su talento se destacó por su versatilidad: podía alternar narrativa seria, policial, fantástica o humorística con la misma soltura, siempre desde un trazo dinámico, fluido y lleno de imaginación.

Su creación más célebre —el superhéroe cómico Plastic Man— transformó los cánones del cómic de superhéroes al combinar acción, humor y la flexibilidad visual de una forma nunca vista. Este legado le valió su ingreso póstumo al Jack Kirby Hall of Fame (1991) y al Will Eisner Award Hall of Fame (1999), distinciones que reflejan su impacto duradero en historietas y cultura pop.
