Mike Carey es un escritor británico reconocido por su trabajo en cómics, novelas y guiones cinematográficos. Nacido en Liverpool en 1959, su trayectoria literaria se ha caracterizado por moverse con soltura entre la fantasía oscura, el horror y la ciencia ficción. Comenzó su carrera como profesor antes de dedicarse por completo a la escritura, lo que marcó el inicio de una prolífica etapa creativa.

Se hizo ampliamente conocido en el mundo del cómic por su guion en la serie Lucifer, derivada del universo de The Sandman, en la que desarrolló una compleja exploración de la libertad, la divinidad y el destino. También dejó huella con Hellblazer, una de las series más longevas del sello Vertigo, y con títulos de autor como The Unwritten, en colaboración con el dibujante Peter Gross, una obra metatextual sobre el poder de la ficción.

En el ámbito de Marvel Comics, escribió etapas significativas en X-Men: Legacy, además de otras series como Ultimate Fantastic Four y Spellbinders.
