Synopsis "Stars of the Savanna"

It is 1694 in colonial Peru, the Spanish reign supreme over the indigenous Inca in a land of mysterious and dangerous rolling mountains. At the peak of Peru's wealth, a drought strikes that threatens the delicate balance of existence on Kiko's savanna. Kiko is a simple Incan boy, tragically born with a crippled leg that prevents him from the customary farm work. Clever but unable to be accepted into his own culture, Kiko is left to face life alone. Evelia, a privileged, radiant Spanish daughter with the world at her feet, wants for nothing; Gifted with sophisticated elegance and a wild-spirited personality, Evelia is the epitome of envy. In a society telling them otherwise, Kiko and Evelia meet in the most unexpected circumstances and struggle together against the existing differences of their worlds. Together facing loss, isolation, and hopelessness, they travel on a journey that will change their lives forever. It just might allow them against all odds climb up from the ashes to beat fate. With fire from their pasts pushing them forward, the two discover the value of the stars and of their dreams.
