Alberto Flores Galindo (Callao, May 28, 1949 – Lima, March 26, 1990) was a distinguished Peruvian historian, sociologist, and essayist, considered one of the most influential intellectual figures of the second half of the 20th century in Peru. His thought focused on the critical analysis of social history, structural racism, and Andean culture, with a strong Marxist perspective adapted to the Peruvian reality.

He was educated at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru and later continued his studies in Paris, at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales. From a young age, he was interested in the struggles of the popular classes, especially in the workers' and peasants' movements. He authored fundamental works such as Aristocracy and Plebe, The Agony of Mariátegui, and Searching for an Inca, the latter considered his magnum opus, where he explores the persistence of an Andean utopia as an alternative political and cultural project.

He founded the House of Studies of Socialism and promoted critical thinking from the academic and editorial fields. His approach united history, politics, and culture in a proposal deeply committed to the social transformation of the country. He died at the age of 40, leaving a brief but powerful body of work, which continues to be a reference for researchers and thinkers interested in Peruvian and Latin American history from below.
