German memory politics are currently the subject of sustained public debate, while responsibility for German colonialism remains largely unclaimed. The contributors document a two-year process in which an international network of scholars, artists, activists, civil society actors, and public institutions critically examined this colonial amnesia and developed ideas for sites of learning and remembrance of German colonialism. How might such sites be envisioned? Where should they be established, and what would their mission be?
