Juan Luis Bastero de Eleizalde (Bermeo, Vizcaya, 1942) is a Spanish Catholic priest, naval engineer, doctor in Theology, and emeritus professor of Mariology at the University of Navarra. His academic work has focused on Christology, Patrology, and, especially, Mariology. He is a member of the Spanish Mariological Society and the Pontifical International Marian Academy.

Throughout his career, Bastero has published numerous books and articles on the figure of the Virgin Mary, highlighting works such as María, madre del Redentor, Virgen singular and Vida de María. In collaboration with José Manuel Fidalgo Alaiz, he co-wrote the book Mariología, which offers a theological reflection on the person and mission of Saint Mary from a Christocentric perspective.

In addition to his teaching and writing work, Bastero has been rector of the International Ecclesiastical College Bidasoa and has actively participated in the training of future priests and theologians. His theological approach seeks to deepen the understanding of Mary's unique role in Christ's redemptive work and in the life of the Church.
