Er gilt als einer der schillerndsten Päpste und skrupelloser Machtpolitiker. Lucrezia stieg durch Heirat zur Herzogin auf. Man verleumdete sie als Femme fatale, machthungrig, über Leichen gehend und Giftmischerin. Entgegen zeitgenössischen Verleumdungen führte sie vermutlich einen soliden Lebenswandel. Die Kurzbiografie "Lucrezia Borgia. Die schöne Tochter eines Papstes" des Wiesbadener Autors Ernst Probst schildert ihr abwechslungsreiches Leben.
