Helena Petrovna Blavatsky (Ekaterinoslav, 1831 – London, 1891) was an influential Russian writer and a central figure in modern esotericism. Co-founder of the Theosophical Society in 1875, her work combines elements of occultism, Eastern religions, philosophy, and mysticism. Her literary style, dense and symbolic, falls within the genre of esoteric and metaphysical essay, with a doctrinal focus on the nature of the soul, karma, and the spiritual evolution of humanity

Among her most recognized books are Isis Unveiled (1877), The Secret Doctrine (1888), The Voice of the Silence (1889), Practical Occultism (1890), and Letters from H. P. Blavatsky to A. P. Sinnett (published posthumously in 1925). She did not receive literary awards during her lifetime, but her legacy has been decisive in spiritual movements of the 20th century
