Un album magnificamente ilustrado para conocer uno de los mitos fundacionales de la cultura inca a traves de un texto que conserva el legado de la tradicion oral. ?Los hijos del Sol? es una version libre de la leyenda de Manco Capac y Mama Ocllo, relato que se remonta a los inicios de la civilizacion incaica transmitida oralmente de generacion en generacion y posteriormente recopilada por el Inca Garcilaso de la Vega. En ella se narra como el Sol envio a un muchacho y una muchacha a la Tierra para fundar la primera ciudad, Cusco, y reunir en ella a sus habitantes para enseñarles todo lo que aun no conocian: hablar, sembrar, lavarse, peinarse, domesticar ganado, tejer, cocinar... El texto de Micaela Chirif mantiene magistralmente el pulso de las narraciones de tradicion oral con una prosa clara y un tono poetico. Las ilustraciones de Juan Palomino evocan, en cierta forma, las primeras manifestaciones artisticas de la humanidad.

Micaela Chirif (Lima, 1973) is a Peruvian writer and poet specialized in children's and young adult literature. She holds a degree in Philosophy from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru and a master's degree in Children's and Young Adult Books and Literature from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, having developed a body of work that includes poetry and picture books, as well as venturing into informational books.

Among her works are "Goodnight, Martina" (2009), "Breakfast" (2013), "You better watch out, mastodon" (2014), "Where is Tomás?" (2016) and "The Sea" (2019). These books, recognized for their literary quality, have been included in selections such as White Ravens and the IBBY Honour List. In 2019, "The Sea" received the Hispano-American Poetry Prize for Children.
