In der asiatischen Landwirtschaft wird Kuhdung häufig als organischer Dünger verwendet, um die Pflanzenproduktivität zu steigern. Diese Studie liefert wissenschaftliche Belege zur Untermauerung des Konzepts der landwirtschaftlichen Fördertätigkeit der Kuhdung, die im Gro en und Ganzen mit den darin enthaltenen Mikroorganismen in Verbindung gebracht wird. Aus der Kuhdung-Mikroflora wurden fünf Bacillus subtilis-Stämme (CM1-CM5) isoliert, die eine Biokontrollaktivität gegen Fusarium oxysporum und Botryodiplodia theobromae, die Nach-Ernte-Fäule-Erreger der Yamswurzel (Dioscorea rotundata L.), entfalteten. Neben der Biokontrolle wiesen diese Stämme eine Solubilisierung von anorganischem Phosphor und die Produktion von Indol-3-Essigsäure auf. Lebensmittelenzyme von industrieller Qualität wie Amylase und Pektinase wurden von diesen Organismen in Submers- und Festkörperfermentation produziert.
