Marcelo Figueras (Buenos Aires, 1962) is an Argentine journalist and writer, author of short stories and novels.

He started in journalism working for various newspapers and magazines such as Clarín, El Periodista, or Humor. He was the director of the monthly magazine Caín, and has collaborated with Spanish press like El País. He combines his literary work with that of a film screenwriter (Burnt Money, Kamchatka, Dangerous Obsession, Rosario Tijeras, and The Widows of Thursdays). Some of his stories were published in anthologies like The Argentine Selection.

In 1992, he published his first novel: The Peronist Boy. Then came others, such as Kamchatka (2003), a finalist in the IFFP (the most important prize the English award to a writer of another language) and winner of the Valle-Inclán Prize, The Battle of Warming (2006) or Aquarium (2009).

He is not the classic writer who only feels comfortable in the silent stillness of libraries, he also likes adrenaline. He worked for the Spanish magazine Planeta Humano and in Israel covered the Palestinian conflict as a war correspondent.

His work has been translated into numerous languages.
