Das Ziel dieses Buches war es, die Mathematik-Lehrplanvorschläge für die Grundschule II des Bildungsministeriums des Bundesstaates São Paulo zu untersuchen. Bei den analysierten Dokumenten handelt es sich um die Curriculum Guides for Primary Education von 1975, den Curriculum Proposal for Mathematics Education: Primary Education von 1992 und den São Paulo State Curriculum: Mathematics and Its Technologies von 2011. Die Fragestellung, die unsere Untersuchung leitete, lässt sich wie folgt darstellen: Wie wird in den Lehrplandokumenten das Fach Mathematik und seine Verknüpfung mit anderen Fächern behandelt? Ziel der Untersuchung war es, herauszufinden, wie die Dokumente die Beziehung zwischen Mathematik und anderen Grundschulfächern behandeln. Unser Forschungsweg beinhaltete die Analyse der Lehrplandokumente, die von der Bildungsbehörde des Bundesstaates São Paulo (SEE/SP) erstellt wurden. Die theoretischen Bezugspunkte der Forschung basierten auf Silva (2010), Apple (2006), Moreira (1989), Sacristan (2000) und Lima (2011).
