Synopsis "House Divided"

INTRODUCTIONThe Prescott Family are the typical middle class family. They have many generational roots in the Midwest blue collar town of Granite City, Illinois. Great-great-great-grand father Prescott settled down in Granite City Illinois in the early 1900's when the steel mill was making granite coated cooking utensils. All the Prescott men continued the tradition of being a steel worker at the steel mill in Granite City. The Prescott family looked picture perfect on the outside. Involved with the community and participated in several non-profit organizations. But inside the Prescott family four walls, chaos has broken out. The mother, Anna is 67 years old. She is very attractive and active in her home town church "Impact 365 Church" on Pontoon Road in Granite City. She also spends time at Coolidge Middle School where she enjoys volunteering in the PTA functions. Her biggest joy is being part of the "Prayer Warriors" at Impact 365 as well as part of their Sunday and Wednesday meet and greet. She volunteers in the local community and non-profit organizations. She has always been a stay at home parent taking care of the children and the household. She was the rock, the glue, the one that held the family together. She kept the peace in the family and handled any chaos that would arise. Anna put the flames out when family situations surpassed the smoldering stage and burst into flames before it would get to far out of hand. William, the father is 70 years old. He retired 5 years ago from the Steel Mill. He dedicated 40 years to the Granite City Steel Mill. He was use to a very structured work schedule outside of the home. He had a regular routine. He was up every week day morning at 5:00 am, dressed an out the door by 6:00 am, pulled into his parking spot at the steel mill, the same parking spot he always parked in for 40 years. Inside the Plant by 6:45 am, clocked in and on duty at his assigned station and ready to begin his work day by 7:00 am. He put in a full day of hard work, clocked out by 4:00 pm and home by 5:00 pm. In bed by 9:00 pm. This was his routine for 40 years. When he retired he did not know what to do with himself and all the free time on his hands. He did not know how to bring structure back into his life on his own. He felt lost, useless, and bored. He felt he lost his identity that he had when he had his career. He began to settle into a few old habits that he had when he was younger before he was married, back in his college days. He began hanging out at Ken's Lounge, a small corner Pub in downtown Granite City. He began drinking alcohol on a regular basis. He set aside his faith in God and became less active in church and eventually he stopped going. Each of the Prescott Adult children all were born with their own unique and different personality. No two are alike. The Adult ChildrenMICHAEL PRESCOTT
