El período del que nos ocupamos ahora -dedicado a la literatura del segundo proceso de modernización, desde la eclosión de las vanguardias hacia 1920 hasta 1973-, es el más fecundo en la historia de la literatura chilena y explica la inusual extensión del volumen que nos ha obligado a presentarlo en dos tomos. Este se inscribe en el marco de una cultura en la que el respeto por la palabra escrita era una conducta universalmente aceptada, tanto de parte del Estado como de la ciudadanía, nuestra literatura vio emerger entonces a algunas de sus figuras mayores. Y no solo para su propia historia, también para la historia de la literatura latinoamericana y mundial.

Grínor Rojo holds a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Iowa, United States (1971). His areas of expertise include Literature and culture in Latin America, Critical theory, and Latin American Theater. He is the author of over 150 publications, including articles, book chapters, and books. Among them, the most recent are: Critical History of Chilean Literature. Vol. I. The Colonial Era. Among the courses he has taught recently are: Theory of the Novel, Theory of Poetry, and Latin American Culture of the Second Modernity: 1920-1973.

Catalina Olea Rosenbluth es una investigadora y académica chilena con un doctorado en Estudios Latinoamericanos. Desarrolla su trabajo como investigadora independiente en Santiago, y sus intereses giran en torno a la literatura chilena, los estudios de género y la memoria histórica. Ha publicado trabajos críticos sobre novelas de la dictadura y la posdictadura, aportando una mirada profunda sobre cómo se representa la colaboración, el trauma y el poder en la narrativa nacional.

Entre sus obras más relevantes está su tesis de magíster titulada Mujeres y colaboración en tres novelas de la dictadura chilena, donde analiza la condición femenina en novelas de Fátima Sime, Arturo Fontaine y Germán Marín. También ha escrito La mujer en la sociedad mapuche. Siglos XVI a XIX, que pone foco en la historia social y cultural de las mujeres mapuches. No hay registros de premios públicos importantes, pero su contribución reside en sus publicaciones académicas y su papel en debates literarios y culturales contemporáneos.
