English summary: Hans Wildberger was a professor of Old Testament studies and the history of religion at the University of Zurich. He became internationally known for his seminal Isaiah commentary, which was published between 1965 and 1982. In this book Frank Jehle tells of the life and work of Hans Wildberger, from his family background as a Neunkirch farmer's son until his death in Zurich. Particularly noteworthy is the time he spent as a parish priest (1933-1951). His sermons are outstanding historical documents. Of particular interest are Wildberger's career as a student of Karl Barth, Rudolf Bultmann and Emil Brunner and his preoccupation with non-Christian religions. International bekannt wurde er durch seinen monumentalen Jesajakommentar, der zwischen 1965 und 1982 erschien. Frank Jehle erzahlt von Leben und Wirken Hans Wildbergers, seiner Herkunft als Bauernsohn aus Neunkirch (SH) bis hin zu seinem Tod in Zurich. Bemerkenswert ist seine Zeit im Gemeindepfarramt (1933-1951) - seine Predigten sind Zeitdokumente ersten Ranges. Die Biografie ist die erste, fur die Wildbergers Nachlass aufgearbeitet wurde, und zeichnet sich durch eine Konzentration auf das Theologische aus. Von besonderem Interesse ist etwa Wildbergers Werdegang als Schuler Karl Barths, Rudolf Bultmanns und Emil Brunners sowie seine Beschaftigung mit nichtchristlichen Religionen.
