An einem exponierten Platz des Budapester Friedhofs an der Kerepesi-út steht auf einer prächtigen Granitsäule die 1890 vom Bildhauer Antal Széchi geschaffene Büste eines bärtigen, gut fünfzigjährigen Mannes: Alsóviszokai Gerlóczy Karoly. 1835-1900 steht im Sockel eingemei elt. Es ist das Grabmal des ersten Vicebürgermeisters von Budapest. Die uralte und wunderschöne Stadt an der Donau hat ihm kulturell viel zu verdanken. Auf seinem Taufschein stand noch ein anderer Name: Karoly, Sohn des Emericus Matekovich de Gerlótz und der Eleonora Becker. Aus Matekovich wurde Gerlóczy. Wie kam es zu diesem Namenswechsel?
