HgCdTe o Mer-Cad-Tel è il materiale a infrarossi più utilizzato. Il presente studio descrive la crescita di MCT tramite ALD elettrochimico, utilizzando un sistema automatizzato di deposizione di cellule a flusso elettrochimico. I depositi sono stati caratterizzati utilizzando la diffrazione dei raggi X (XRD), la microanalisi con sonda elettronica (EPMA) e l'assorbimento di riflessione Fourier transform Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Come i film depositati hanno mostrato un forte (111) orientamento preferito. I cambiamenti nella composizione dei depositi hanno mostrato l'atteso trend di gap di banda: più Hg è alto e più basso è il gap di banda, ma con alcune significative deviazioni. Gli studi elettrochimici di microbilancia a cristalli di quarzo (EQCM), utilizzando una cella di flusso automatizzata, hanno indicato che alcuni Cd depositati si stavano spellando ai potenziali utilizzati per depositare Hg. Inoltre, la sostituzione redox del Cd depositato per Hg era evidente, una funzione della maggiore stabilità di Hg rispetto al Cd.
