Sie setzt sich vor allem für die Bekämpfung von Fluchtursachen in Entwicklungsländern ein. Zu den Ursachen von Flucht gehören nicht nur, wie seit Jahren in der Öffentlichkeit diskutiert, politische Strukturen, die Organisation des Staates und ein Mangel an natürlichen Ressourcen in Drittweltländern. Vielmehr ist Flucht oft auch eine Folge des Handelns des europäischen Westens, der seine wirtschaftlichen und politischen Interessen in der Welt durchsetzt. Das ein-seitiger Verfolgen dieser Interessen hat zur Folge, dass Einwohner aus Entwicklungsländern aufgrund von Perspektivlosigkeit das Vertrauen in ihr eigenes Land verlieren und sich auf den langen und unsicheren Weg in eine möglicherweise bessere Zukunft im Ausland machen (vgl. Gebauer 2016: D7).
