Diese Festschrift würdigt den bedeutenden Wissenschaftshistoriker Christoph J. Scriba (1929-2013). Als Motto für das Buch wurde gewählt: "Mathematik ist eine Bedingung aller exakten Erkenntnis" (Immanuel Kant, 1724-1804). 30 Kapitel bieten einen guten Überblick zur Mathematikgeschichte von der Antike bis heute. Das Buch beruht auf der Scriba Memorial Tagung, die vom 12. bis 17. Mai 2015 in Hamburg stattfand, organisiert von Gudrun Wolfschmidt und Hans Fischer (Eichstätt). Es war gleichzeitig ein Wissenschaftliches Kolloquium und die Tagung der Fachgruppen "Geschichte der Mathematik" in der "Deutschen Mathematiker-Vereinigung" (DMV) und der "Gesellschaft für Didaktik der Mathematik" (GDM), siehe auch die Webseite http: //www.hs.uni-hamburg.de/DE/GNT/events/Scriba-Mathe-2015.php.
