Jean Hani (1917–2012) was a French philosopher, historian, and essayist, known for his traditionalist approach to the study of religions and sacred symbolism. With a PhD in classical literature, he focused his research on the influence of Egyptian religion on the thought of Plutarch. As a professor at the University of Amiens, he founded the Center for Research on Classical Antiquity and led seminars on the history of Greek religion. After retiring, he collaborated with magazines such as Connaissance des Religions and Vers la Tradition, establishing himself as a prominent figure in the study of Christian symbolism.

Among his most notable works are The Symbolism of the Christian Temple (1962), The Divine Liturgy (1981), Sacred Royalty (1984), and The Black Virgin and the Mystery of Mary (1995). In his writings, Hani explores the convergence between Christianity and other spiritual traditions, addressing topics such as liturgy, sacred architecture, and the archetype of the Eternal Feminine. His work has been translated into several languages, including English, and continues to be a reference in studies of religious symbolism and traditional metaphysics.
