Eliacer Cansino nació en Sevilla en 1954. Escritor y profesor de Filosofía, ha dedicado su obra literaria al mundo infantil y juvenil. Colabora habitualmente en revistas y foros de reflexión en torno a la literatura infantil y juvenil. En 1997 recibió el premio Lazarillo por El misterio Velázquez. De sus obras publicadas en Anaya destacan: Nube y los niños, El lápiz que encontró su nombre, Julián tiene miedo, Las leyendas de Bécquer contadas por Eliacer Cansino y Yo, Robinsón Sánchez, habiendo naufragado. En 2009 resultó ganador del VI Premio Anaya de Literatura Infantil y Juvenil con la novela Una habitación en Babel, que obtuvo al año siguiente el Premio Nacional de Literatura Infantil y Juvenil que otorga el Ministerio de Cultura. Gran parte de su obra ha sido traducida al francés, al alemán y al japonés.
