Este libro forma parte de un proyecto editorial más amplio en el que se recogen los resultados de los trabajos llevados realizados por un grupo de investigadores reunidos en torno al así llamado International Q Project. Este grupo comenzó a publicar en 1996 una serie de volúmenes bajo el título “Documenta Q” (Q 11,2b-4 y Q 4,1-13. 16 en 1996; Q 12,49-59 y Q 12,8-12 en 1997; y Q 22,28. 30 en 1998). En ellos se han reunido casi todo lo que se ha escrito acerca de los versículos estudiados, junto con una valoración de todas las opiniones a favor y en contra de su inclusión en Q y una propuesta de reconstrucción. El año 2000 publicaron finalmente The Critical Edition of Q.
