(Barcelona, 1971) was a correspondent in Asia for two decades and has worked as a reporter in more than thirty countries. His books have been translated into half a dozen languages and include the bestseller The Director, his memoirs about the year he managed the newspaper El Mundo. He has also published Children of the Monsoon, which won the International Travel Literature Award Camino del Cid; The Happiest Place in the World, which compiles some of his chronicles and reports; and the novels The Bellboy of Kabul and The Correspondent. The author is a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University, a master of journalists, and a contributor to the newspapers The New York Times and Die Welt.
