Il presente lavoro presenta un'etnografia della vita di uomini che hanno relazioni affettive e sessuali con altri uomini nella città di Maputo, in Mozambico. In sintesi, le interviste ci rivelano che l'interesse affettivo-sessuale di un uomo per un altro non è ben visto dalle cerchie di relazioni degli intervistati, il che conferisce loro una vita sociale piena di manipolazione dell'identità, al fine di evitare l'isolamento sociale. L'omosessualità è vista come un'influenza straniera, al di fuori dei valori diffusi come "africani". Infine, la ricerca ci ha rivelato che il modello omosessuale diffuso in Occidente attraverso l'associazione LGBT, così come l'omofobia, sono idee esterne, eredità del sistema coloniale europeo.
