Detroit Stories is a compelling statement. It says only this (or that) could have happened in the Motor City, but more importantly, the intent - and hopefully, the deep impact - of this experiment is acknowledging the imaginative engine driving its diverse citizenry.

Today, it's hip to reference Detroit because of this apparent resurgence everyone's talking about. Fair enough. With all this national attention, other outlets are telling our stories: outsiders looking in. But Detroiters - and those native to the city - are the voices really qualified to tell the tale. It's a view from the inside, from the idea factory, unfiltered. The cross-pollination of blue/white/collar/industrialization/technological wonder. It's chili fry grease on the paper bag. Westside and eastside like two twin star systems derived from the same node.

Detroit is past, present and future occurring simultaneously, spinning simulacra like free verse in free fall. Detroit Stories should be speculative fiction and nonfiction at its very best. Detroit Stories will be the bus that always runs on time, where you can climb aboard, and yes, find a seat and watch the cityscape wiz by.
