English summary: After the first volume, which described Indian Buddhism, the chapters of this volume handle the historical and doctrinal development of Theravada Buddhism in its "classic" countries (Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Cambodia, Thailand and Laos), but also its dissemination and revitalisation in India, Bangladesh, Malaysia and Indonesia. Also, the various schools of Tibetan Buddhism are shown in detail and classified in the history of Tibet and the local versions of Tibetan Buddhism in Bhutan, as well as among the Mongol peoples are also described. The last chapter deals with Buddhism among the Turkic peoples of Central Asia before Islamisation. German description: Nach dem ersten Band, der den indischen Buddhismus beschrieben hat, behandeln die Kapitel dieses Bandes die geschichtliche und lehrmassige Entwicklung des Theravada-Buddhismus in seinen "klassischen" Landern (Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Kambodscha, Thailand und Laos), aber auch dessen Verbreitung und Revitalisierung in Indien, Bangladesch, Malaysia und Indonesien.
