Erst neuere psychoanalytische Untersuchungen haben die ganz frühen Körper-Selbst-Spiegelungen beschrieben, denen zufolge das Kleinkind noch weitgehend in sich selbst verwickelt bleibt. Auch im erwachsenen Leben spielen diese Spiegelungserfahrungen der inneren Vertikalen noch eine bedeutende Rolle. Der Autor zeigt dies an vielen Beispielen, schildert aber auch ein eigentherapeutisches Verfahren, das aus scheinbar so Gegensätzlichem wie Psychoanalyse und Meditation aufgebaut ist. Laut Anleitung kann jeder dieses Analytische Psychokatharsis genannte Verfahren selbst anhand zweier Übungen erlernen.
