DAS JDISCHE SDFRANKREICH. Schon seit der Zeit der Rmer siedelten Diasporajuden in der Provence um Arles, Avignon und Aix. Knstler waren darunter, aber auch Bankiers oder Handeltreibende. Noch heute stehen dort alte Synagogen und Stadtpalste. Die Provence spielte ber Jahrhunderte eine wichtige Rolle in der Geschichte der Juden in Europa, insbesondere die Mittelmeerkste von Nizza ber Antibes und Sanary-sur-Mer bis zu Marseille mit dem berhmten Hafen. 1940 wurde Marseille zum rettenden Ort fr viele Juden aus Deutschland. Heute beherbergt die Hafenstadt die zweitgrte jdische Gemeinde in Frankreich. Dieser Band ldt zu Spaziergngen in all diese Stdte ein, auch auf den Spuren von Joseph Roth, Kurt Tucholsky, Walter Benjamin, Lion Feuchtwanger, Egon Erwin Kisch oder Walter Hasenclever.
