Detective Zapf explores Sir Walter Scott's landing on the Oregon coast, the American Stonehenge at Maryhill, Sylvia Plath's birth certificate, Manzanita and Neahkahie Mountain. The climax is set in Portland's west hills at the Pittock Mansion, and--for one character--Portland gets transformed into the 1895.
