Akimi Yoshida (12 de agosto de 1956, Tokio) es una mangaka japonesa.

Es una de las primeras mujeres que destacó en el mundo del manga. Mostró desde su infancia aptitudes para el dibujo y, con el apoyo de su familia, se graduó en la Universidad de Arte de Musahino.

Debutó como autora en 1977. 1977 en la revista Bessatsu Shôjo Comic, dibujando la serie sobre un pensionista Chotto Fushigi na Geshukukin. Su primer gran éxito fue el shojo California Monogatari, cuando sólo tenía veinte años. Se editó entre 1978 y 1981, y se recopiló en 8 volúmenes, para ser adaptada más tarde al anime y un drama radiofónico.

La mayor parte de su producción se enclavaría igualmente dentro del subgénero del Shojo. Sin embargo, su obra más conocida a nivel internacional sería el thriller criminal Banana Fish, que se serializó entre 1985 y 1994, y que también se transformaría en una serie de animación, del que ha vendido más de 12 millones de ejemplares.

Entre sus títulos más crecientes, habría que citar Yasha, una serie derivada de Banana Fish, y Nuestra Hermana Pequeña: Diario de una ciudad costera. Ambas obras han obtenido el prestigioso premio Shogakukan.

Además, también ha trabajado en el diseño de personajes para la publicidad, el cine y el anime.
