Back in the Wilds. Mayhem in the Wilds of Pennsylvania
Glenn Maxwell Scott (Author) · Outskirts Press · Paperback
Jimmy Maxwell is riding cross-country with no set destination-working odd jobs, fishing quiet streams, and chasing the open road on his motorcycle. When a letter from a lawyer draws him back to the remote Pennsylvania region known as the Wilds, Jimmy returns home and finds far more than he bargained for.
Inheriting his late Uncle Eddie's cabin and land, Jimmy sets out to reconnect with the rhythms of rural life and the local community. But as he forms new friendships and settles in, he unknowingly steps into a tangled web of criminal activity.
At the center is Ken Baker, a small-time operator with big problems. Alongside a ragtag crew, Baker runs drugs, agitates local biker groups, and orchestrates a bizarre bear-poaching scheme tied to an underground bile trade for a Chinese crime outfit based in Pittsburgh. Shielded by a right-wing militia, a corrupt sheriff and judge, and a compromised game warden, the operation seems untouchable.
That is, until Jimmy and his friends-through a series of chance encounters and unintended interference-begin to unravel it all.
What follows is a fast-paced blend of backwoods intrigue, dark humor, and escalating tension, as loyalties are tested and the walls close in. With the DEA and Pennsylvania State Police circling, Baker's carefully constructed enterprise starts to collapse-often in ways no one sees coming.
Set against the rugged backdrop of the Pennsylvania Wilds, this is a story of homecoming, unlikely alliances, and how ordinary people can upend even the most entrenched criminal schemes.
