Liber constat ex duobus partibus, quarum prima est Rhetorica et secunda est Poetica. In Rhetorica, Aristoteles considerat tres partes orationis, scilicet exordium, narratio et conclusio, et docet quomodo orator debet uti argumentatione et rhetorica figura ut persuasiones faciat. In Poetica, Aristoteles considerat tres genera carminum, scilicet epicum, tragoedia et comoedia, et docet quomodo poetae debent uti characteribus, fable et metro ut carmina sint pulchra et significativa.
