Ransom Riggs (Ransom Clifton Riggs) es un escritor, cineasta y fotógrafo estadounidense, reconocido por combinar la narrativa fantástica con antiguas fotografías encontradas en mercadillos, archivos y colecciones privadas. Tras estudiar literatura inglesa y cinematografía, desarrolló un estilo muy personal en el que las imágenes antiguas se integran de forma natural en la historia, creando atmósferas inquietantes y memorables.
