Synopsis "a guide to old and new lace in italy - exhibited at chicago in 1893"

A Guide To Old And New Lace In Italy. Exhibited at Chicago in 1893. This guide book presents the unique collection of antique laces from all parts of the world exhibited in the Italian section of the Women's Building, at the World's Columbian Exposition, held in Chicago durring the summer of 1893. It opens with a description of every kind of lace-like fabric, and forms a complete and succinct history of lace from its origin to the present day. It also has appended a list of the books exhibited and decriptive notices of all the Lace Schools and Lace Manufactories in Italy. Many of the earliest books on weaving, textiles and needlework, particularly those dating back to the 1900s and before, are now extremely scarce and increasingly expensive. We are republishing these classic works in affordable, high quality, modern editions, using the original text and artwork.
