In Odu, the Akinolus are known for generational poverty which is caused by the family legend. The family heritage that resulted from the legend disgusts Olu.Olu decides to drop out of school with the hope of becoming a music star and be rich like Magic, a young promising artiste. At 13, despite Olu does not know Magic's place, he goes to search for him: He likes to learn from him. The decision turns to a journey. The journey becomes a great adventure. The adventure leads Olu into the heart of the world. For about a decade, Olu goes about, making efforts without any outcome. On a voyage to Sierra Leone, on the high sea, nature responds to Olu's confrontation. The tempest rises. There is a shipwreck. Time is visited. History is vindicated. Destiny is manifested. When Olu returns to Odu, life is never the same again.
