This book is part of the ongoing effort by Areteem Institute to inspire students, parents, and teachers to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of mathematics. This book is aimed for students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade in elementary school. This book leads readers through complex math concepts via age-appropriate approaches, such as fun stories in real-life scenarios, riddles and puzzles, magic tricks, cartoon drawings, jokes, etc. Math is fun! The authors of the book are experts in math who are passionate educators and they work hard to present the fun aspect of math to young students to stimulate interest in math and develop problem solving and critical thinking skills at an early age. In addition, this book reviews and expands state math standards, including the Common Core Standards, particularly the Operations and Algebraic Thinking (OA), Numbers and Operations in Base Ten (NBT), and Measurement and Data (MD) domains at the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade level.The book is divided into 8 chapters. In each of the chapters we introduce a new concept as well as step by step solutions to a variety of problems related to that particular concept. Each chapter contains 10 example questions with full solutions, 10 quick response questions and 25 practice problems. The problems are designed to test the students' mastery of the material discussed in each chapter.The book is available as a Student Workbook and has an accompanying Solutions Manual with full solutions. The Student Workbook contains all the material and practice problems, and answers to all practice problems.
