TJ Klune (Travis John Klune) was born on May 20, 1982 in Roseburg, Oregon. He is an American author known for blending fantasy, romance, and drama in his stories, particularly excelling in LGBTQ+ literature. His work is characterized by a positive message about acceptance and the emotional depth of his characters, many of whom explore sexual diversity, neurodiversity, and asexuality, aspects that the author himself has addressed throughout his life.

Throughout his career, Klune has received numerous awards and recognitions: Winner of the Lambda Literary Award for Best Gay Romance with Into This River I Drown (2014). The House in the Cerulean Sea (2020) is his most successful novel, considered a New York Times bestseller and winner of the Alex and Mythopoeic awards in 2021.

Other notable titles include Under the Whispering Door, In the Lives of Puppets, and the Green Creek series, with Wolfsong (2016) being very popular within the LGBTQ+ romance and fantasy genre.

Klune has been acclaimed by both the public and critics for creating emotive and warm stories that seek to make queer experiences visible and dignified, normalizing diversity and love in its various forms. Additionally, he is an active voice in the positive representation of the LGBTQ+ community in contemporary literature.
