Manuel Mujica Lainez
Manuel Mújica Láinez (1910-1984) Descendant of ancient Spanish families settled in the Río de la Plata since the 18th century, he was raised in a highly cultured environment and studied in France and England. He traveled extensively to countries such as Japan, China, Manchuria, Greece, Italy, and Egypt, among many others. His great novels, like Mysterious Buenos Aires, The House, Bomarzo, The Unicorn, The Labyrinth, and The Beetle, have been translated into more than fifteen languages. Some of his stories have been adapted into films, he received the most important awards in Argentine literature and was decorated by the governments of France and Italy. He was also a member of the Argentine Academy of Letters and the National Academy of Fine Arts.
