Malena Higashi
Malena Higashi is an Argentine writer and specialist in the Japanese tea ceremony, born in Buenos Aires in 1984. Educated in Literature and at the Urasenke school, she deepened her studies in Kyoto in 2017. She presides over Urasenke Argentina and teaches at the Nichia Gakuin Higher Institute of Japanese Studies. In 2023, she published The Wind Among the Pines: An Essay on the Way of Tea, illustrated by Nicolás Stimolo. The work falls within the essay genre and has been well received for its integrative approach and engaging style.
In addition to her work as an author, Higashi runs the newsletter and interview series A Japan of One's Own, and offers workshops and tea gatherings. Her work seeks to bring Japanese culture into everyday life, promoting a sensitivity to the ephemeral and contemplation.
