Estrella Ortiz
Estrella Ortiz, Spanish, studied Teacher Training at the University of Alcalá de Henares and Dramatic Arts at the Royal Superior School of Madrid. She began storytelling at the Public Library of Guadalajara in 1984, pioneering the professionalization of this craft in Spain. Since then, she has traveled with her stories and poems to countless places. She has written two specialized essays on the art of storytelling: Contar con los cuentos (2002) and Contar con la poesía (2014). In 2021, she received recognition for her work with the Cultural Merit Medal in the Performing Arts category from the Regional Government of Castilla-La Mancha. She has published numerous children's books in Spain, the latest, Don Melitón (2023) is the fifth book for babies in the Cántame un cuento series, published by Libre Albedrío.
She started her journey with Amanuta in 2014 with De paseo and Cada oveja con su pareja, followed by Colores (2015), Todo en su lugar (2015), Menudos bichos (2018), Olas vienen, olas van (2020), Pinocho (2021) and Pilla pandillas (2024) just out of the oven!
