Dan Simmons
Dan Simmons was born in 1948 in Peoria (Illinois, USA). After eighteen years dedicated to teaching literature, in 1987 he decided to dedicate himself full-time to writing. Since then, he has cultivated all kinds of genres (from fantasy, to horror and historical fiction), although he is best known for his contribution in the field of science fiction.
He is the author of Hyperion (winner of the Hugo and Locus Awards in 1990), the first novel of the acclaimed series "The Hyperion Cantos", which includes Hyperion, The Fall of Hyperion, Endymion, and The Rise of Endymion. Simmons has become an undisputed reference in contemporary science fiction.
